FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) - The No. 6 University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team defeated rival No. 24 North Alabama by scores of 4-0 and 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to open the three-game, Gulf South Conference series at Mike D. Lane Field. The Chargers improve to 21-4-1 (13-4-1 GSC), while the Lions slip to 21-7 (10-6 GSC).
The Chargers benefitted from an outstanding performance in game one by left-hander Daniel Koger, as the Huntsville native hurled a season-best 11 strikeouts over 7.0 shutout innings of work. Koger improved to 7-0 with the win, which leads the GSC.
UAH went on to notch its fifth shutout of the season, with seniorLuke Mould complementing Koger's outing with 2.0 scoreless innings of relief and three strikeouts.
