HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – A HAZMAT team is on the scene at Central North Alabama Health Clinic on Pulaski Pike after an employee reported a suspicious smell Thursday afternoon.

Captain Frank McKenzie said someone in the building pulled the fire alarm after a suspicious smell was detected shortly before 3 p.m. Employees and patients were then evacuated.

A special operations firetruck was first on the scene. Firefighters took meters into the building to get readings, then called for a HAZMAT team.

HEMSI officials treated a few individuals on the scene, but no one was transported to the hospital.

Crews on the scene are in the process of shutting off the air conditioner.

Huntsville Fire and Rescue, HAZMAT, and HEMSI responded to the call.
