CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A property owner found nearly 50 marijuana plants growing on his land Wednesday afternoon, and then held the grower at gunpoint until police arrived.

Arab Police Assistant Chief Shane Washburn says a man was out walking his property at 383 County Road 1856 in Cullman when he noticed several marijuana plants growing in styrofoam cups on his land.

Officers say then he noticed a man coming back to tend to the plants.

Officers say the property owner held the man at gunpoint and called the police.

Arab Police arrested Chris Scott Allred and recovered 48 marijuana plants.

Officers say Allred is the neighbor of the property owner who caught him.
