LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office says officials captured Ryan Denham at about 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Officials say he had been on the loose for a couple of hours. Authorities say he was being transported for a mental health appointment with a counselor at the Lawrence County Mental Health Center when he fled.

Authorities say the 24-year-old ran out of one of the doors to the facility wearing jail clothes and handcuffs. Sheriff Gene Mitchell said Denham was located about two hours later in a wooded area just off Payne Avenue in Moulton.

Officials say Denham had been in jail for a year on multiple burglary, theft and robbery charges.
