Investigators tie McDonald’s shooting victim to Lincoln County home invasion
LINCOLN COUNTY, Tenn. – Monday the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department determined that a shooting investigation in Hazel Green is connected to an attempted home invasion in Lincoln County.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department said they responded to a call about an attempted home invasion and shooting at a residence on March Mill Road Saturday. Deputies said the homeowner reported that three men came to his door and told him to put his hands up. The homeowner pulled out a handgun, was shot in the arm, and returned fire, possibly hitting one of the men, deputies said.
Later Saturday, Madison County authorities responded to a McDonald’s in Hazel Green after a gunshot victim was dropped off there. Deputies there said a man was shot multiple times in the upper torso.
Working together, the Lincoln County and Madison County Sheriff’s Departments were able to tie the two incidents together.
Investigators arrested Eric Wesley Atchley and Dustin Elmer Hood in connection with the home invasion and charged them with aggravated assault. They identified Hood as the gunshot victim from the Hazel Green McDonald’s. Investigators are also looking for another suspect, Cody Warren Clinard, in connection with the home invasion.
