This weekend: Kansas, Sister Hazel to headline 15th Annual WhistleStop Festival
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The 15th Annual WhistleStop Weekend is coming to downtown Huntsville this weekend, May 1-2. This year’s headliners are Kansas and Sister Hazel.
The event, held at the Historic Huntsville Depot, features great barbecue and music and is a major fundraiser for EarlyWorks Family of Museums.
Kansas will perform Saturday night. The band has spent more than four decades as a part of the soundtrack of the lives of multiple generations of music lovers. They have produced eight gold albums, three sextuple-platinum albums, one live platinum album and a million-selling gold single, “Dust in the Wind.” They appeared on the Billboard charts for more than 200 weeks throughout the 70’s and 80’s and played to sold out arenas and stadiums in North America. “Carry On Wayward Son” was the #1 most played track on classic rock radio in 1997.
Sister Hazel will perform on Friday night, as fans sing along to hits such as “All For You” and “Champagne High.”
“This year we are taking a slightly different approach to our entertainment. As WhistleStop has been primarily a country music event, we are excited about introducing more variety,” said Bart Williams, Executive Director of the EarlyWorks Family of Museums.

More than 130 cook teams have registered to compete in the Shadetree and Professional divisions. Also returning this year are the crowd favorite ‘Wing Thing Contest’ and the People’s Choice barbecue tasting contest. There’s also the CornHole Tournament and a kids area.
