Nurseries are taking a tip from cooking shows and adding more herbs to their inventory. Along with the trees and shrubs for your yard, you can now find hundreds of herbs to use in your kitchen. Add some flavor to your cooking with healthy ingredients like fresh basil.

Basil may be one of the most popular varieties of plants in the herbal world. And there is at least one kind of basil to pair with every recipe. Lime Basil is a great addition to a fish dinner, or Red Rubin pairs well with tomato dishes. There are dozens of other kinds of basil that you can try out and find which one goes best with your dinner.

If you’re going to plant the herbs keep in mind that many of those plants are of Mediterranean origin. They live in countries with volcanic material in the soil. So they need loose open soil.
