MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) – The Madison City Council will soon fill Place 2 on the Madison City Schools school board.

For Madison City Schools, the city council is actually the group that appoints school board members. Each year, one of the five school board positions is up for appointment. The incumbent can reapply, but his or her application will be put into the whole pile of applicants.

Any Madison City resident can apply for the Place 2 position. Applications can be turned in to the city clerk until the close of business on March 31st. Those applications are then given to the city council to decide their final candidates. Those candidates are interviewed by the city council to select the new board member.
