HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – April 27, 2011’s tornado outbreak proved the importance of wireless connections in a storm; when the power goes out, they can be a sole lifeline to the outside world.

Recently, technology correspondent Michelle Stark showcased some free tips for extending your smartphone’s battery as long as possible.

What follows here are a couple of devices that will also extend your battery’s life, ranging in price from under $10 to roughly $80:

Veetop car charger – Plugs into your car power socket and can juice up a range of smartphone and tablet devices. Offers dual charging for one tablet and one phone. Runs about $8 on Amazon.

RAVPower Luster Mini 3000mAh Portable Charger – Can provide a “full charge” to an iPhone 5. Can also power other phones and tablets via USB. Doubles as a flashlight. Lightweight and easy to store. Costs approximately $18.

MOPHIE Juice Pack Helium – For iPhone users, a case that extends a phone’s battery life by 80 percent. Runs about $80.
