HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida mother is accused of beating her daughter before sending her to school wearing a shirt that said she’d received a “good woopin” for poor grades.

Melany Joyce Alexander now faces child abuse charges after her alleged plan to shame her daughter backfired and landed her behind bars.

The handwritten t-shirt claimed the girl received all Fs and warned friends and boyfriends to “back off before I get another good woopin like I got last night.”

School administrators gave the girl a new shirt to wear and noticed numerous bruises and marks on her neck, arms, leg and back.

“It’s obviously someone who went way way over the line. They were obviously seeing red when they did this and it’s disappointing because it’s a child,” Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis said Monday.
