GILES COUNTY, Tenn. (WHNT)-- A family traveling home to Florida Monday afternoon had a close call after a sheet of falling ice from a passing 18-wheeler, smashed through their windshield.

Sara Vazquez and her daughters were driving south on I-65 about20 miles from the Alabama border when the ice hit them.

"We were just kinda in shock and covered with glass," Vazquez told WHNT News 19.

Luckily everyone in the car was ok and the car was a rental with full insurance coverage. The Vazquez family was able to get back on the road a few hours delayed by safe.
