Campus of Lee High School/New Century placed on lockdown for a short time Monday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The campus of Lee High School/New Century Technology High School was placed on lockdown for less than an hour on Monday.

The school was placed under lockdown just before 11 a.m. as staff investigated an apparent threat against a student, according to Huntsville City Schools spokesman Keith Ward.  He said this is part of school safety protocol and every situation is taken seriously in order to protect students and staff.

The lockdown was lifted about 11:30 a.m.  No one was injured.  Ward said the situation is still under investigation but classes have resumed.

He did not give specifics on what happened in this particular situation.  WHNT News 19 is working to get more details.
