IDER, Ala. (WHNT) – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says an Ider woman has been indicted for torture/willful abuse of a child.  Her 4-month-old had a severe femoral fracture.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris says Brandy Lea Watson, 20, was indicted after an extensive investigation involving the Sheriff’s Office, DeKalb County Department of Human Resources and the District Attorney’s Office.

The child was taken to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.  Watson was arrested at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

“I want to thank the District Attorney’s Office, the DeKalb County Department of Human Resources and Investigator Scott Tarrant for their hard work on this investigation,” said Sheriff Harris. “We will continue to fight for the innocent lives of children of DeKalb County.”

WHNT News 19 is working to find out more information on this case, including how the child is doing now.
