OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. (WHNT)– Investigators are still working to determine what caused a fire at Ultratec on Friday that killed two and injured four.

As friends, family, and coworkers grieve this weekend, investigators finished up at the site.

WHNT News 19 reached out to pyrotechnics experts who say accidents like these are rare and obviously unfortunate.

According to Special Agent Michael Knight, as of Sunday the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Fire (ATF) investigators have left Ultratec.

The site was quiet with WHNT News 19 revisited it Sunday afternoon.

Knight says they’ve sent samples they collected to a lab for further analysis. When results come in, they will help ATF figure out what happened inside the facility.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Alabama State Fire Marshal’s offices are also wrapping up conducting interviews about the incident to aid the investigation.

New Hope and Owens Cross Roads police and fire departments are also helping out with the investigation, said Knight.
