More details on Proposed theme park for the Shoals
MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (WHNT) – DreamVision Co. has sent out an email notification that it will hold a news conference Feb. 11 at Marriott Shoals Hotel to discuss the development of a destination theme park-type attraction in the area.
You’ll be able to stream that news conference live here on WHNT.com.
On the DreamVision company website, they write, “prepare for the unexpected.” They’re calling the park ‘DreamVision Soundscape’.
DreamVision is based out of Fort Worth, Texas. Information provided by the company shows it’s proposing to build a pair of theme parks, one in Fort Worth and one in Muscle Shoals. There’s very little information at this time, but Shoals Area Chamber of Commerce President Steve Holt said he’s optimistic.
“It would change us forever,” Holt said. “The magnitude of it is very likely to be the largest private investment that we’ve seen in the history of the Shoals.”
DreamVision said each park would cost $3.5 billion. Holt said it didn’t seem as though the company would ask the state for money for the proposed development. Although, the company hasn’t reached out to the Chamber on the proposal thus far.
Holt said at this point, they are treating it like a prospect. He said the Chamber will help in any way it can.
“We would be excited that it works out, that everything materializes,” Holt continued. “Even if it doesn’t, that’s the kind of thing you hope to be able to work with over the course of your lifetime here trying to make things happen.”
The information from DreamVision said the development would cover approximately 1,400 acres in Muscle Shoals but didn’t specify where it would locate.
Holt thinks it could be TVA property, walking distance from the Shoals Marriott. Again, more information will be discussed Feb. 11.
DreamVision did not respond to any of our requests for comment on Friday.
The Shoals Marriott did confirm DreamVision does have the ballroom booked for Feb. 11. Stay with WHNT for more details.
