UPDATE: California Street reopens after driver hits utility poles

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Police have reopened all traffic lanes on California Street near McClung Avenue after police say a driver struck two utility poles.

The collision happened Friday around 5:30 a.m.  Crews with Huntsville Utilities replaced the damaged poles.

The driver was not believed to be seriously injured.  However, authorities believe the driver may have been impaired at the time.  We’re told charges are pending.

No power outages were reported.
