LAGUNA BEACH, Cal. (CNN) - A paddle boarder has shared some breathtaking video of an encounter with orcas -- also known as killer whales.

Rich German was paddling off the shore of Laguna Beach, California when a pod of five orcas came close to interact with him.

One of the whales went directly under him twice.

He said he was "too excited to be scared."

A few other larger boats were nearby.  They stopped to watch the encounter.

German said he's sharing the video to raise awareness for what he calls "these incredible, magical creatures."
