HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Four players reached double figures in scoring as the University of North Alabama women’s basketball team went on the road to knock off UAH 80-70 Saturday afternoon in Gulf South Conference play. The win puts UNA (9-6) back above .500 in GSC play at 6-5 on the season.
UAH (8-9 overall, 5-6 GSC) dropped its fifth straight game to the Lions. In the 70 all-time meetings, UNA improved its record to 50-20 against the Chargers.
On Saturday, Jennifer Towne led all scorers with 19 points for North Alabama. The junior from Jonesboro, Ark., was only 2-of-12 from the floor, but went 15-of-24 from the free throw line. The 24 attempts sets a new single-game record for UNA previously held by Jameica York, who went 17-of-20 from the foul line on Nov. 19, 2009 at home against Henderson State.
