Shoals church secretary pleads guilty to stealing over $100,000 from church

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – The Highland Park Baptist Church secretary accused of putting over $100 ,000 on the church’s credit card changed her plea to guilty Thursday.

Police arrested Deborah Mansell in July 2014. Colbert County authorities said she stole money from Highland Park Baptist Church by using the church credit card without permission.

The charges she was indicted on included 20 counts of fraud using a credit card and one count of theft.

Mansell pleaded guilty to theft of property, first degree. She must pay back approximately $130,000 in restitution and court fees.
