HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) –  Huntsville City Schools made a discounted Wi-Fi service, called OmniLynx, available to parents, on January 15th.

The service is provided through Verizon and currently available to Huntsville City Schools employees. The district is extending the discounted program to families of Huntsville City Schools students as a way of increasing the capacity for networked learning to further support the digital 1:1 initiative.

OmniLynx provides a high-speed portable Verizon Jetpack Mobile Hotspot device with no contract, free equipment, unlimited data plan, and no set up fee. The Jetpack units can be shipped directly to the individual’s home in as little as 48 hours. The Jetpacks cost $47.75 a month, far less than most basic cable or internet contract plans.
