Madison, Ala. (WHNT) — Jefferson’s Restaurant in Madison got an unexpected visitor overnight Thursday. The wing, burger and oyster eatery is located at 7193 Highway 72 West. Owner Steven Flemming contacted WHNT News 19 personally, after he was robbed of roughly $500. He thought we could help him find the gutsy culprit.

What makes this heist a little different is the thief was very likely a familiar face. Flemming says he used a key to get in and disabled the alarm along the way. The bad news for the thief — every act was caught on tape.

“He acted like he owned the place,” said Flemming. “He came in, sat down, took his time and even shut the door behind him.”

Flemming says he was clearly after the safe, which he went directly to. Surveillance video shows the robber suited up in thick white garb. He fumbled with the safe and when that didn’t work, picked it up and waddled out of the restaurant.

Flemming is offering a $500 reward for anyone with information leading to his arrest. He says he’s more concerned for the safety of his employees and wants this disloyal perpetrator caught.

If you know anything, you’re asked to call Madison Police Department. Flemming says you can also call his restaurant at (256) 890-9464.
