Deadly wreck shuts down interstate temporarily

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A deadly crash on I-65 shut the interstate down temporarily Thursday night.

Witnesses say the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. near exit 361. That’s just east of Elkmont, near Sandlin Road.

Details are limited at this time, but firefighters on the scene tell us at least one person died in the wreck.

We are currently working to gather more information.

The interstate is back open this morning.
