MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Madison Police and the Madison County Fire Department  were forced several roads due to flooding Tuesday evening as heavy rains moved through north Alabama.

Madison Police closed Balch Road between Gillespie and Browns Ferry Roads for about 90 minutes Tuesday.  Barricades were put up near 325 Balch Rd.  They also warn of flooding on Balch Road just south of Monument Lane.

Madison County Firefighters  notified WHNT of heavy flooding in the area of Carter Grove Road and Elkwood Section Road in northwest Madison County.

Please remember, it only take a couple of inches of moving water to wash a car away. It is always safer to turn around instead of driving through flood waters.

Please do not go around any barricades in place.

If you see any flooding in your area, please notify emergency personnel. If it is safe, please email us a photo of flooding to photo@whnt.com. You can also get the photos to us on twitter by using #valleywx.
