Etowah County man arrested in connection to hunting incident, another man shot in both legs

ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. – A Hokes Bluff man is charged with first-degree assault in connection to a recent hunting incident.  It involved another man being shot in both legs.

The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office said Mark Shaw Hunt, 44, shot Dr. Christopher Clark of Gadsden in both legs while hunting in a field off of Norton Lane in the Ball Play community.

Hunt was aware that Dr. Clark was also in the field, investigators said.

The incident happened Saturday, December 13. Someone called 911 shortly after 5 p.m. to report the incident.

Dr. Clark was flown to a Birmingham hospital where he is still recovering.

Hunt is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on $10,000 cash bond.
