Huntsville named top city for people considering retirement

Where do you want to retire one day? It turns out Huntsville is poised for big things with people considering  what to do post-career.

According to a new report by, Huntsville is the best place to retire in 10 years. It tops the list of the six cities named, in fact.

The report says many people are seeking warmer climates instead of harsh winters they’ve had to deal with in other parts of the country, according to research by

They’re also looking for tax havens. Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Alabama, for example, don’t tax Social Security benefits and have property tax breaks for seniors, according to Kiplinger.

So, here’s the list:

1. Huntsville, Alabama
2. Mount Dora, Florida
3. Sequim, Washington
4. Dahlonega, Georgia
5. Chattanooga, Tennessee
6. Bluffton, South Carolina
