ARAB, Ala. (WHNT) — A man is facing a burglary charge for stealing a ring for his “girlfriend for our anniversary.”

Arab Police say officers responded to an alarm call at South Trust Pawn on Cullman Road early Thursday morning.

Assistant Chief Shane Washburn says when officers got there, they found a glass door to the business that had been broken, and was open.  He says officers found a hammer lying on the ground next to the door.

Assistant Chief Washburn says officers checked the business and found Jamie Todd Baird inside.  He says Baird told police he was just trying to get a ring for his girlfriend for their anniversary.

Baird is now in the Marshall County Jail.
