ARDMORE, Ala. (WHNT) – Ardmore High School’s former band director, who recently resigned, has been arrested.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office says Jamie Alan Bowman is charged with first-degree theft.  They arrested him Tuesday, December 2.

On November 24, the Limestone County Board of Education reported money missing from a fundraiser by the Ardmore High School Band.

Investigators interviewed Bowman, who said he took the money.

School officials said several thousand dollars was missing, but did not state the exact amount.  The money was to help the school’s band go to Tampa, Florida for the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day.  Bowman resigned from the school last week.

Limestone County Superintendent Tom Sisk said the plan is still on for students to make the trip.
