ARAB, Ala. (WHNT)-  2014 marks the 20th edition of Arab’s annual Christmas in the Park celebration.  The city’s park off of Shoal Creek Trail has been decorated with two million lights.

The tradition began in 1995 as a way to help the community recover from a deadly tornado the previous February.

Christmas in the park is free and allows visitors to stroll through the lights at their own pace.   It is now open each night until December 31st.

Kids can also visit with Santa every Friday and Saturday night until Christmas.

To get to the park from Highway 231, turn on to Main Street in front of the Arab Walmart.  Continue south on Main Street for 1.6 miles and take a left on Shoal Creek Trail.   Shoal Creek Trail goes right passed the city park.  You won’t be able to miss the lights.
