HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - One local retirement community took time Tuesday to recognize its more than 60 senior veterans.

Magnolia Trace, located in south Huntsville, held a Veteran's Day ceremony Tuesday afternoon.

Not only did it honor its residents who served, but it also welcomed those still serving.

Magnolia Trace resident and naval veteran Larry Grimes says today's veterans has sacrificed so much more than his generation to fight for our country.

"These veterans, some of them are abandoned, some of them are homeless and I pray for them everyday because these guys will never be whole again. Whereas I got shot at, but they missed."

Grimes served in the Navy for 34 years. During his service, he was the commanding officer for the USS Duluth.
