HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Veterans Day is Tuesday, November 11th.  WHNT NEWS 19 is taking action to let veterans know all the things they can enjoy on their special day.

We scoured the internet and called businesses in north Alabama to find out who was offering discounts and freebies for veterans.  It seems most are trying to return the favor of our veterans' priceless sacrifices and service to America.

At Bar Louie Restaurant, they say their money-saving deals for veterans are important.

"We want to take care of the people that took care of us," said Rob Davenport, Bar Louie's General Manager.

Davenport is proud to offer them a 10 percent discount year round and and even sweeter deal on November 11th.

"We offer a free meal up to $12 for active duty and retired military personnel. We have Asian influence, we have Mexican influence, and of course American. We have burgers, sandwiches, and full entrées as well as a great list of appetizers which are practically meals themselves," Davenport said.

The veterans special is honored from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Many other restaurants have their own deals, from fast food places to high-end steakhouses.

West End Grill offers a 10 percent discount to the military year-round and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse will treat a veteran to a free dessert on Veterans Day.

And speaking of dessert, locations of Baskin-Robbins came up with a special way to bank veterans and those still serving in the military.  The company came up with a special flavor of the month for November: First Class Camouflage.

The Army green color is cake-flavored ice cream, the tan color is salted Caramel, and the brown is chocolate.

A military ID will earn a 10 percent discount year round.

On Veterans Day, the company will donate $0.10 for every scoop they sell to the United Service Organizations.

And those deals are just the beginning.

MilitaryBenefits.Info lists all the ways and places veterans and the military can save this year and what merchants did last year.

From haircuts to coffee to donuts to clothing, it's the one way merchants can return the favor to those who protect freedom, the free market, and everything American.

Veterans and military personnel just need to make sure to bring your military ID or proof of your service with you.

Thank you, veterans, for your priceless commitment to America!
