Huntsville, Ala. (WHNT)-  Former Huntsville City School Board President David Blair was a member of the board for more than a decade.  This week he stopped into  WHNT News 19 to discuss the current situations facing the school system.

Social monitoring of the students is a hot button issue and he gives answers to many of the questions that our viewers have.  Blair feels that the monitoring was absolutely necessary and has potentially saved lives at least twice by alerting the school system of several threats.  The authorities were able to intervene before anyone was hurt.

The Department of Justice’s plan for rezoning the Huntsville City schools is another topic that has become a very sensitive issue.  David Blair feels that it’s not so much about diversifying the schools, but about giving the kids in each school the best opportunities for education as possible.
