Halloween means neighborhoods will be full of trick or treaters. Now, there’s a high-tech way to keep your kids safe. It starts at the website Alertid.com.

You can enter your address, and you’ll find a map that shows it there are any sex offenders living or working in the area.

Take a few minutes to download the mobile alert id app. Snap a photo of your child, in their costume, upload the picture and add the description.   If your child goes missing, you can send the picture and information to law enforcement when every moment counts.

Talk to your children about stranger danger. If they are grabbed, screaming isn’t enough. Be specific. Have them yell “This person is trying to take me" or "this isn't my mom". Encourage them to try their best to fight and get away.

During this week of fun, parents don’t let your guard down; use the opportunity to teach a lesson of safety.

“Be very careful, watch for people, don’t go into a house, make sure you say thank you.” Raychel Drake, a mother said.

“Always make sure we’re together and they wear clothing that has some sort of reflective necklace or something.” Brittany Dunscombe, a mother said.

When the fun is over for trick or treaters, parents take the time to look at what’s in your child’s trick or treat bag.

“We like to inspect the candy they get and make sure it looks safe, individually wrapped.” Pat Curry said.

So while kids will be kids, just a reminder moms and dads, don’t let your guard down this Halloween, so everyone can have a BOO-TI-FUL time.
