Iconic Huntsville Barber Floyd Hardin Passes Away

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Floyd Hardin, a long-time barber in Huntsville, passed away on Monday at the age of 75.

Hardin was an icon known by many as the “Mayor of 5-points”. His shop at the corner of Andrew Jackson Way and Steven Street became a community gathering spot for decades.

Hardin came to Huntsville in 1955, fresh out of barber school.  He bought his own shop in 1969 and moved to the current location in 1980.

Visitation for Hardin will be on Wednesday at Spry Funeral Home from 5 to 8 pm. His funeral will begin at 11 am Thursday at Mayfair Church of Christ.
