MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - A dozen people are recovering after a wreck Sunday afternoon involving a church van in Marshall County.

It happened about 1:30 p.m. on Horton Road.  The van was carrying people from Red Apple Baptist Church, which is located on Red Apple Road outside of Boaz.

State Troopers say the driver of the van lost control and overturned into a creek.  All 12 people inside the van were taken to local hospitals, and a few with more serious injuries were transported to Huntsville Hospital.  One person was then taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment, a family member said.

We understand most of those injured have been released and are recovering at home.

Troopers continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
