Muscle Shoals, ALA. (WHNT) - This week's Tools for Teachers honor goes to Christina Booker, a music teacher at Muscle Shoals Middle School. She received 319 dollars for supplies during WHNT's surprise classroom visit.

Despite the fact she's only in her second year as a teacher, Ms. Booker is already changing the landscape at this school by injecting a fresh dose of enthusiasm into the choir programs, getting middle school kids excited about vocal performance. It was the mother of one of these students who nominated Booker for this award.

"My 6th grader is in show choir under her and is learning so much," Shelley Berry tells WHNT in her nomination letter. "She stays late working with the kids and comes early. She goes above and beyond for these students!"

Ms. Booker says that, like sports and other extra-curricular activities, choir can teach important life-lessons to students.

"We may be 46 different people, but we function as one," Booker says. "We create that teamwork aspect. If one of us is off we’ve got to figure out how to get the group back together."

If you know a worthy teacher, coach, principal, or aide, tell us about them through the Tools for Teachers nomination form.
