DeKalb County officials investigate shooting death

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an argument between two men that resulted in one of them being shot to death.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports deputies from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday at a residence on County Road 603. Harris says  an argument between two men at the residence resulted in one of them being shot.

The coroner pronounced Kenneth Shane Scott, 40, of Valley Head dead on the scene. Sheriff Harris contacted District Attorney Mike O’Dell who ordered an autopsy to be done.

Sheriff Harris said  “We appreciate all the assistance from all the agencies that responded last night. We had officers from Alabama State Troopers, Henagar Police Department, and Sylvania Police Department. Our officers worked through the night and are continuing at this time. The body has been sent to forensics in Huntsville. The shooter has been identified and interviewed. No arrest has been made at this time, pending further investigation.”
