Two people injured in motorcycle accident near Athens

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Two people were badly injured in a wreck involving a motorcycle near Highway 72 and the Elk River, just west of Athens.

It happened around 4:00 p.m. Saturday on Little Elk Road and Warren Drive. The motorcycle left the road and ended up in a ditch.

Emergency crews transported both patients to the hospital by Med-flight.

Clements Volunteer Fire Department, Athens-Limestone EMS and Alabama State Troopers worked the wreck.

The road was closed while crews worked the scene.

There is no word on the two people’s identity or condition.
