Two die in early morning wreck in Fort Payne

FORT PAYNE, Ala. (WHNT) – Two young men died in a wreck early Wednesday morning in Fort Payne.

It happened about 12:10 a.m.  Someone called 911 to report a vehicle being overturned on 8th Street Northeast.  Apparently, the truck veered off into the road and went into a ditch, catching on fire.

Emergency teams rushed to the scene to find the truck engulfed in flames.  Two men were inside the vehicle.  Fort Payne Police pulled them out as quickly as possible.

The driver, Miguel Jose, Jr. was taken to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga where he died.  He was 23 years old and lived in Fort Payne.

The second victim, Antonio Martin, 24, was pronounced dead at DeKalb Regional.  He also lived in Fort Payne.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
