Motorcycle vs car wreck blocks Hwy 31 traffic in Decatur

DECATUR, Ala. – Traffic on Hwy 31 South was blocked for almost an hour after a car and motorcycle collided Monday afternoon.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. near Lenwood Road.

Decatur Police say Douglas Sanders, 56,from Bunker Hill, Tenn., was attempting to turn South onto U.S. Highway 31 S from the median at Lenwood Rd SE in his motorcycle when he was struck by a car traveling southbound on US Highway 31 S.

Sanders was immediately transported to Huntsville Hospital via Med-Flight to be treated. The extent of Sanders’ injuries is unknown at this time.

Decatur Police are investigating the circumstances of the wreck.
