HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – On Tuesday night, there will be another round in the battle over  Huntsville ‘s abortion clinic, but this could be the last in the fight over the clinic’s proposed move.

The site is currently the Women’s Wellness Center on 4831 Sparkman Drive in northwest Huntsville.

It is an obstetrics and gynaecology practice.

It is possibly the future location of the Alabama Women’s Center for Reproductive Alternatives.

Until June, Huntsville’s only abortion clinic operated on Madison Street in downtown, but administrators surrendered their license, saying there was no way the building would comply with the tougher standards of the new state law governing abortion clinics.

Opponents, who worked to shut the clinic down, initially argued the location was too close to a middle school.

They are now fighting the move by challenging the site’s medical use variance.

The area is zoned as residential.

The city granted the property a medical use variance in 1998.

At 6:00 pm Tuesday night opponents will challenge the variance before the Huntsville Zoning Board.

The meeting will take place on the first floor of City Hall.

The zoning administrators tell WHNT News 19 that variances do usually transfer with a property sale.

However, each challenge is dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

The appeal of the variance is the first items on the zoning board’s agenda.

Zoning board members could make a decision Tuesday night, but if they feel they need more time, the vote will be postponed until next month’s meeting.

The City grants variances to ALL of its’ “friends” ALL the time…so let’s see some other “variances” aired out in Public to even the tables here!

  • Leigh

It is so sad to think they will be killing babies across the street from a school. I pray they turn from their wicked ways. Abortion is murder- plain and simple. The womb was never meant to be a tomb. The money they make from abortion will not save their souls. God says what good is it for a man to gain the whole world, but lose his soul. Hell is for eternity. Wake up, repent, and stop killing the innocent. So sad.

  • Huntsville Taxpayer

Oh LOOK, Leigh….masquerading as Carrie’s mother. Will she start handling snakes and speaking in tongues?

  • KB

Leigh, if you were raped, or knew that you were going to give birth to a severely handicapped child, what would your thoughts be then? I have also seen more pro-lifers complain about welfare recipients. You don’t want to see or hear about anyone making the decision to end a pregnancy but then you complain about your tax dollars being spent helping the women who decided to keep their child. I can’t stand idiots like you!

  • Jeremy Smith

Wow @Huntsville Taxpayer.. And KB. Clearly you are the pot calling the kettle black.
Leigh has every right to voice her opinion. An opinion that’s shared by the majority. Quit hanging around just to disparage people. Abortion=Murder.

    • Dan

And clearly KB has the right to voice their opinion as well. Sorry Jeremy, you are not of the majority! Wishful thinking though. What these women do to their body is their business… Mind your own and you won’t have to worry about it !

      • Jeremy Smith

What anyone does to an unborn baby is EVERYONE’S BUSINESS.

Why do you feel compelled to insult me, and defend murder? Adoption is always an option. Also, quite to the contrary.. The Majority believes that abortion is wrong.

Have a nice day Danny Boy

      • Dan

You sir have just proven your ignorance. You are not worth the wasted time to respond to so have a nice day.
