Huntsville, Ala. - (WHNT) There is nowhere to go but up for the Butler football team in 2014. The Rebels, who are coming off an 0-10 season have a new coach and a new attitude. Cedric Jackson is the new man in charge and his first challenge is changing the culture of losing in his locker room.

"Just getting them to understand that football is serious," Jackson said when asked about the hardest part of his new gig. "Not just to me but this community and something good can come out of it. "Just getting them to work and just getting them used to working every single day."

Less than 30 players are listed on the roster making the numbers game a major issue for the 5A school. One player who is there and helping to motivate others is running back Gary Fern. "They need to get in their head that we do need to try because this is a serious and very tough sport. I'm willing to do anything to help my team and my coaches."

Butler opens it's season August 29th against Columbia.
