UPDATE: Saturday morning wreck in Hazel Green claims 2 lives

HAZEL GREEN, Ala. (WHNT) — A two-vehicle crash on Saturday claimed the lives of a Hazel Green man and woman.

The wreck happened around 10:35 a.m. on U.S. 231, eight miles north of Huntsville.

Alabama State Troopers said 85-year-old Richard Carl Hartman was injured when the 2004 Dodge Neon in which he was a passenger was struck by a 2007 Nissan Altima driven by Emma Geddings, 63, of Harvest. .

Hartman was transported to Huntsville Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the 2004 Dodge Neon, Lana Hartman, 74, of Hazel Green,  and Geddings were transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

Hartman died Monday evening at Huntsville Hospital, according to troopers.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the crash.
