HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)- Eric Artrip makes his point clearly.

"The U.S. Space and Rocket Center is not paying their employees properly. “

Artrip is representing three current or former United States Space and Rocket Center employees. He says a state audit clearly shows the three employees were not paid according to state law.

"The U.S. Space and Rocket Center is a department of the state of Alabama and as such is required to pay all state holidays. The state holidays are laid out in the Alabama code. We would hope they wouldn't ignore them.”

Space and Rocket Center spokesman Tim Hall says the huge tourist attraction is a commission and not a state agency.

"We are overseen by a commission of the state of Alabama," Hall said.  "A lot of people get confused with that. "

As for the pending litigation, Hall says the USSRC's policy on reacting to lawsuits is clear.

"It is our policy not to comment on any pending litigation,” he said.

Artrip says the people he represents are not seeking riches from litigation.

"We are not seeking millions of dollars here. What we are seeking is to make the center do what it should have been doing under Alabama law," Artrip said.

  • Nuclear Mike

As reported earlier…the USSRC’s corruption has been known about for a very long time yet allowed to continue ever since Mike Wing was ousted all those years ago…more revelations will follow as the “onion is peeled publically”.
No one should be supporting the Rocket Center with their own money until the corruption is exposed & prosecuted in a public court before it can be covered up yet again.

  • about time USSRC gets busted

lol worked there almost 8 years and yep i’ve wondered when something like this would happen. The first three years I worked there we didn’t even get over time because they found a loop hole where they didnt have to pay ot for “temp part time seasonal” even though 40 plus hours were worked in a week and employees worked all year. They also lay these people off for one week every year to prevent workers from gaining a status other than “temp part time seasonal. Also the catering billing for functions adds a gratuity to and bills the client. This tip share is susposed to get divided between the hourly events employees but it has never been done. The list goes on and on and on!
