MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – A spokeswoman for Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley says the federal government has notified the governor that immigrant children will be placed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery.

Communications Director Jennifer Ardis says the governor’s chief of staff got a call from the Federal Emergency Management Agency late Wednesday afternoon.  She said it’s not known how many children will be placed at the base or how soon they will arrive.

A spokesman for the Secretary of Defense says the Department of Health and Human Services will assess whether the base could house children, and that hasn’t been done yet.

Bentley joined five other governors in sending a letter to President Barack Obama on Tuesday. They expressed concerns that states will end up with costs for public school and other services.

The purpose is to break our economic system by giving these people Social Security, driver’s licenses, food stamps free medical care, and etc. These are not all children, there are adults and families. Support Mo Brooks and Mr. Sessions in opposing this.

    • Red

The “purpose” Harry, is to treat people… children… with compassion. Your paranoid ramblings and the angry, idiotic ramblings of all the rest of the angry hillbillies here, is laughable. It is a fact that all of you have a voice here on this blog. It is fortunate that none of you have more than a single vote.

      • marie pinion

the purpose is to destroy America from within, you want to help them so much move. go to their country and fix it don’t destroy mine

      • TruthLivesHere

If you have so much compassion, open your door to these people. And I don’t mean in a conventional way such as fostering and adoption. Leave your front door open 24/7/365 (much like our border). Let them show up at your house at 2:00 AM wanting food and a bath. You wouldn’t mind would you? Because you have compassion.

      • Harry Martin

Red, it seems like you’re in the small minority here, not the rest of us. We’ve done our research, now do your’s.

      • Stephen Jones

Excuse me sir, there is no need to call us hillbillies. That is uncalled for and highly immature of you. We do not have the right to vote more than one vote obviously but it’s quite obvious that these people are being brought here to eventually be able to cast their votes and YOU know they will be voting for the party that brought them here Illegally and just handed them freedom which so many people try daily to come here legally and have earned the right to freedom. You sir just need to think before you speak or post things. And it wouldn’t hurt to do some historical research. Good Day!

why are we storing these immigrants across the US, why do we not dump them over the boarder back where they came from. I dont want our air force base used to store aliens.

  • Jeanne

If the governors are worried about money to care for the kids they need to call Boehner and tell him to get off his soap box and get congress to approve getting some cash to the states instead of stonewalling . I assume while on the base it is the federal government who is responsible, but these kids still are entitled to due process according to a law the republicans passed in 2008 under Bush.

  • Jeanne

The sooner the children are processed, the sooner they can be sorted out to be sent back or go to their families they already have here. Why is it that here in the bible belt that people who profess to love Jesus so much are so mean spirited? Do you really think that Jesus would send children back into a dangerous area to deal with murderous gangs and slavers? Maybe I’m a bleeding heart, but these kids endured a dangerous journey to escape, maybe we should try some Christian sympathy .

    • Branko Pezdi

By the same “logic” you also blame the Israelis for killing the children that the Hamas terrorists use as shields as they fire upon Israeli women and children. Sorry, ma’am, I and everyone else here rejects your irrationality. Take it to MSNBC where it belongs.

    • Michael

Because every time Jesus is brought up when it comes to the government we always hear “separation of church and state.” In a case in which you agree with, NOW you want to just brush it aside.

  • Branko Pezdi

Instead of “the Department of Health and Human Services assessing whether the base could house children”, how about the Department of Defense assess whether there are enough aircraft at the base to fly these illegal aliens back home where they belong.

  • Cindy Laten

I see it as ”FREE THE CHILDREN” As it has happen years pasted with the color people. Now it will be getting pretty ulgy as it still is with color people. ”JUST SAYING”

  • Sam Hill

Governor Bentley, if they fly them in, activate the national guard to surround the perimeter of the base to make sure they don’t escape or to meet them at the border and turn them away if they bus them in!!!

    • Stan

That would never work. All Obama would have to do is federalize the guard… Besides most of our ALNGs funding comes from the federal government anyways, either directly or indirectly

  • mamac

This is NOT our responsibility the immigrants need to keep there legs closed and the men there zippers zipped. The immigrants need to go back to Mexico and demand there country to be better to them DON’T COME HERE TO THE USA AND FORCE CRAP DOWN OUR THROAT TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR DOING WE DIDN’T FORCE YOU TO SPREAD YOUR POPULATION.Yall have all these kids cause yall don’t want your cultural to dwindle and now since YALL CAN’T TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN CHILDREN YOU WANT TO THROW IT ON THE USA.GO HOME and demand the crap from your home MEXICO.We CAN’T even take care of our children here in Alabama much less all over the USA which is our own by the way the people that has paid taxes and ect. This is NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY of ALABAMA.

  • julia

i’m with ‘Jeanne’…amen to that! I mean sure, this country has plenty of its own problems but, if the shoe were on the other foot then what? What would you do if in that desperate situation? I would flee too, honestly, I would make a run for it too if it meant saving the life of my child. WWJD?

    • Branko Pezdi

Jesus would not place his own family, his own people, his own country in harm’s way to ‘save’ other people who are doing wrong. Put the blame where it belongs, ma’am.

  • Donna

You better get ready for fleeing. Soon we’ll have no military support. Just daycare. I agree, we can help but it will cost dearly and I don’t just mean monetarily.

  • Sandy

Funny how suddenly the left side is chanting WWJD! It is not our responsiblilty to clothe, feed and house these criminals. Not only that, it is a heath hazard as well. They are not vaccinated against any of the diseases, who knows what kind of sickness they bring with them.

  • Say What

We should take in every one of those children, and send airplanes down to get millions more. The American fertility rate is so low that we will need theses children in the future. If they come in at ten-years old, they will learn English in a natural way and become great American citizens. All the old angry white people will need these new workers fifteen-years from now to support them while they live off of social security!

    • B

Social security is nothing more than a scam, first off! You don’t actually believe you will ever get near of what you have paid in, back do you!?
Now since you seem to know all and have a solution for everything, how about you explain to us how WE will pay for this?
Say What it’s quite obvious your a far left lib, so I’m sure your pro-choice as well. Right? So answer this for me. What about the unborn children that are aborted, don’t they deserve a chance to? Why are you taking this humanitarian stance on this situation, but say the heck with an unborn baby?!

      • Say What

Actually, I am pro-life. A fetus is not viable until after the first trimester. Until that time, it is the business of the mother. After viability, it should be provided protections.

  • Sherry James

Are Jeannie & “Say What” taking in a dozen or more of these children? Why does Say What not have a name? To ashamed to put her name? I worked for 45yrs, paid into SS, Fed & State taxes I earned my Social Security. I am old but not angry. If I did something illegal I would be held accountable. If you do not enforce the law there is only chaos. American & proud of it. I am also not white, why would you put a color on it?

    • B

Agreed, this is not a race issue by any means! I wouldn’t care if the people were from Italy, Australia, France, Africa, wherever, it does not matter! What about the people who trying to come into our country legally? Is it fair for all these immigrants to rush in front of them and delay their citizenship even further?

  • Lotus

WWJD? I don’t think Jesus has anything to do with this gigantic mess. If he did, it never would have happened. Just saying.

  • Michael

What Would Jesus Do? Can’t say for sure, but I doubt He’d flee to another country seeing as how he never attempted to escape the corruption of the Sanhedrin. Had He done that we’d all be in trouble because the Death, Burial, and Resurrection would never happen. If I had to guess I’d say He would attempt to show the sinners in His own country the way, the truth, and the life.

    Matthew 25:31-46English Standard Version (ESV)

    The Final Judgment
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,[a] you did it to me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

    Leviticus 19:34
The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

    • Harry Martin

The God also tells us to obey the law. We have laws concerning this issue and they ARE NOT being obeyed!
Just obey the laws, not just the one’s you like!

  • TR Corn

Obama wants to make sure that AL gets its fair share of untreatable TB, scabies, shigella, measles, mumps, flu and what ever else disease these little invaders carry….. on top of taking tax dollars out of the mouths of our own poor and needy children.

  • Peter

And this is exactly WHY they are sending them to Alabama… because they know Alabamians wont have enough BACKBONE to stand up for our ecomomy crashes underneath us. Alabama is rated the WORST<POOREST state besides MIssissippi…. so why not send them to us, we are the weakest link. This is a crying shame and these kids are NOT OUR problem! SEND THEM BACK!

  • dow

We have company’s in Alabama working them at night on assembly lines. The company’s have a inside person that lets them know when they are coming. Then the company clears them out of the building. Its been going on for years one was fined but they still do it at night. They send people to check in the day time not at night this is why it still goes on today. This was happening when jobs was only a dream in Alabama and it needs to stop. It seems like people lost jobs just for illegals to get them.

Bottom line, all in the U.S. who entered without proper authorization BROKE THE LAW and should be returned to their country or origin — AND no amount of theorizing on this page or others will change that law. And for those bringing Jesus into it and what he would do, the Bible is abundantly clear about obedience to the laws of government — He created government to establish order, punish evil, and promote justice (Genesis 9:6; 1 Corinthians 14:33; Romans 12:8). We are to obey the government in everything—paying taxes, obeying rules and laws, and showing respect. If we do not, we are ultimately showing disrespect towards God, for He is the One who placed that government over us. When the apostle Paul wrote to the Romans, he was under the government of Rome during the reign of Nero, perhaps the most evil of all the Roman emperors. Paul still recognized the Roman government’s rule over him. How can we do any less? Read more:

A.J, the government (President Bush) is the one that said these children should get extra time to make their asylum cases when he signed the 2008 law. It was President Bush that said that these children were to be turned over to DHS and other child services while their asylums were being processed. It is people like you that do not want to be obedient to what the government said to do. But, that is to be expected from hypocrites!
