Driver suffers life-threatening injuries in late-night wreck

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The driver of an SUV suffered life-threatening injuries after a vehicle he was in ended up at the bottom of an embankment.

The wreck happened just after 11:00 p.m. on Meridian Street just east of Memorial Parkway.

Investigators say the driver lost control then rolled his SUV several times down an embankment.

Huntsville Police say the driver was not wearing his seat belt and was thrown from the SUV.

Paramedics rushed the man to Huntsville Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officers shut down Meridian Street for more than an hour while they worked to clear the scene.
