BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WHNT) – The city of Birmingham is hoping to impress a group representing the Democratic National Committee.

The group will arrive in Birmingham today for a two-day visit.

The goal is to determine whether Alabama’s largest city is equipped to host the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

A number of meetings and special events are planned during the visit.

The mayor’s office is heading up the city’s effort to secure the big event.

Cleveland, New York, Phoenix and Philadelphia are the other cities under consideration.

I think this is NOW a republican state. Dem. go home! I know Birmingham is in need of monies…but not this way. Try to get the NRA or some other convention to come to town.

No guys, you got it all wrong. Come to Birmingham, DNC! Come on down! This is a grrrrrrrrreat place to kickstart your 2016 campaign. Trust me!

I don’t think the folks in Birmingham want any part of the DNC, unless they want to be tagged as the “Home of the New Scandals Central “. There are those who want to continue to call the fine folks of Alabama “Red Necks”, so be it. One thing for SURE these “Red Necks” know what the Constitution stands for!!!!!! It’s NOT to vote for a Dem, EVER again!!!!!!!!!

As a GOP stalwart I will say that I would like to see them come. It would bring a good bit of money into the corrupt broke city of Birmingham and the state. Also, it would showcase to the old “blue dog” Democrats that the party of Bud Cramer and George Wallace no longer exist.
