Fire crews respond to wheat field fire

HAZEL GREEN, Ala. (WHNT) – Fire crews were at the scene of a wheat field fire Sunday afternoon.

Toney  Firefighters and Bobo Fire and Rescue responded to the scene on Elkwood Section Road around 1:15 p.m.

Crews sent two off-road attack trucks and one engine to tackle the five acre fire.

Fire officials said it took 30 minutes to bring the fire under control, windy conditions hindered the operations, taking units longer.

Units were on scene for 1.5 hours.

No injuries were reported.
