GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)-  Between now and Thursday you'll have a few opportunities to stop by the Guntersville Ice Cream Shoppe and pickup a sweet treat, free of charge.  Kids can say the Pledge of Allegiance and get free ice cream.

"Children 12 and under can come into the shop and say the Pledge of Allegiance and they get a free kiddie scoop," said owner Joe Clevenger.

The store is hosting the event as part of the "I Pledge" campaign.   It was started in Georgia in 2010 as a way to help  kids learn the pledge.

"They don't teach it I don't think enough anymore," said Clevenger. "They might, but I don't really think they do.  It's more of a parent thing now, that they teach them."

If you want to participate, you must be 12 or under and go by the shop on Wednesday, July 2nd or Thursday, July 3rd, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
