NEW ORLEANS, La. (WWLTV/CBS) — New Orleans Police say there are a total of nine people shot on Bourbon Street early Sunday morning.

CBS station WWLTV reports  the shooting happened just before three o’clock Sunday morning.

“We received a call of nine people who had been shot on Bourbon Street,” Liz Belcher with New Orleans EMS says, “The injuries varied from critical and life threatening to fairly minor.”

So far, police have not released any information on the gunman, but say they are looking for two people.

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu released a statement following the incident: “Our number one priority is to keep New Orleans safe. These kinds of incidents will not go unanswered. NOPD was in the immediate vicinity at the time of the incident, and I am confident that between video evidence and eyewitness accounts, we will bring the perpetrators to justice. Our crime fighting efforts have brought murders in the city of New Orleans to a historic nearly 30-year low. But on days like today, the statistics don’t matter because every life is precious – from the 9th Ward to the French Quarter. We will not rest until every corner of this city is safe.”

I’m sure if all the guns were taken away those guys would have just hugged each other and went on their separate ways, at 3AM in the morning! How come the race or political affiliation of the folks involved aren’t being blasted in the news 24/7? Can’t make the progressives lose their voter base now.
