HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Big changes coming to the programs housed at the current  Huntsville Center for Technology.

Huntsville City Schools officials confirm the center will be closed in the coming years when two new high schools are completed being built.

Susan Moon is the career academy coordinator for the district. She says work is already underway to move  the 17 technical programs available at the HCT and spread them throughout the system's high school campuses rather than at the current campus on Drake Avenue.

Moon says the move will make it easier for students to attend classes right on their own high school campus instead of having to travel across the city to another campus like they currently do.

The timetable for the complete shutdown of HCT is not exact but will  be completed once new campuses are finished.
